Bangor City v Port Talbot Town, Welsh Cup Final 2010, Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli. 4:30pm, Saturday 1 May 2010

This season’s Welsh Cup Final will be officiated by Dean John.

The FAW this morning announced his appointment to the pinnacle game of the domestic football season, which will be played in Llanelli on Saturday May 1st.

West Wales FA Referee John, aged 40, will take his place in the middle for the showpiece event at Parc Y Scarlets, when holders Bangor City take on first-time Finalists, Port Talbot Town.

It is becoming tradition that the honour of refereeing The Welsh Cup Final is bestowed on an official only once during their career and recognises the quality and consistency of their performances throughout a season.

The Cwmbwrla based official, expressed his delight at the announcement, saying; “It is always a great honour to receive an appointment from the FAW and this marks the biggest and most important of my career.”

It’s something you always dream about when you work your way up the refereeing ladder, but you never imagine realising that dream.

“It’s something you always dream about when you work your way up the refereeing ladder, but you never imagine realising that dream.

“I’d just like to say a big thanks to everybody that’s helped me along the way, especially my wife and other friends and family.”

The good news for John has already been spreading around footballing circles as he added;

“I’ve already had messages of thanks from fellow referees and even Welsh Premier League managers, which is really pleasing.”

John has taken charge of one FAW Final before, when he was in the middle for the FAW Youth Cup final between Cardiff City and Newport County in 2004/05.

This season’s Assistant Referees are Martin Williams (Wrexham, North East Wales FA) and Hywel James (Cardiff, South Wales FA) while the Fourth Official will be Mike Jones (Wrexham, North East Wales FA).

Winning club will receive £25,000 from The FAW’s Competition Prize fund, the losing club £15,000.

Roberto from CiaoWeb has informed me that a new website has been completed last week:

Save Your Memories - Secure Your Video and Photo Memories In DVD For Life.

This could be very interesting for all of us who have many hours of sport events recorded on tapes.

More details about the business:

“We are in the age of the digital revolution but many families still have years of memories stored inconveniently in a pre-digital format. Birthdays, weddings, holidays, and various other happy events were recorded on tapes medium for years. While the technology is now definitely obsolete, the memories surely aren’t! Storing your video footage in tape is both inconvenient and risky. Not only do you require special equipment on which to watch film, but your film is vulnerable to loss, destruction, and age related degradation.

Fortunately it is now possible to have all of your tapes converted into a digital format, we simply convert them to DVD in this way your precious memories will be enjoyable for you and new generations to come .

Please visit the web site for more details: www.save-your-memories.co.uk“
