As part of UEFA CORE 42 three officials from Wales – including our own James Sheils –  took charge of French League 2 game between Andrezieux Vs Montpelier II.

September Meeting – Monday 30th September 2019 at the Visteon Club, Treboeth

The next meeting of the society will be this Monday, 30th September at the Visteon Club.

The Junior Section meeting will commence at 7pm with the main meeting at 7.30pm.

During the meeting, we will be presenting the Colin Ashford Award to Mike Podbielski of Mumbles Rangers.

We will also be marking Mike Birt’s long refereeing career by awarding him Life Membership of the Society

The meeting will also be an ideal opportunity to:

  • Discuss any issues arising from the FAW Comet system during the first month of the season
  • Raise any queries with Martin Duffy (Referees’ Officer of the Swansea Senior League)

Next Society Meeting – Monday 19th August 2019 at the Visteon Club, Treboeth

The first Society meeting of the 2019-20 season will be held on Monday 19th August at the Visteon Club, Treboeth.

The Youth meeting will commence at 7pm with the full Society meeting starting at 7.30pm

IFAB Clarification of the Goal Kick Law (Law 16)

Many people will have seen the recent game where the Benfica goalkeeper chipped a goal kick to a defender who then headed it back to him (see attached video).

There has been considerable debate whether or not this contravened the laws.

Along with some other points regarding goal kicks, IFAB have confirmed that this trick – although it does not contravene the laws as currently written – is not allowed.  If this occurs in a game, the goal-kick should be retaken without any further action taken against the players involved
