This season's Welsh Cup Final will be officiated by Dean John.

The FAW this morning announced his appointment to the pinnacle game of the domestic football season, which will be played in Llanelli on Saturday May 1st.

West Wales FA Referee John, aged 40, will take his place in the middle for the showpiece event at Parc Y Scarlets, when holders Bangor City take on first-time Finalists, Port Talbot Town.

The Cwmbwrla based official, expressed his delight at the announcement, saying; "It is always a great honour to receive an appointment from the FAW and this marks the biggest and most important of my career."

Dean has taken charge of one FAW Final before, when he was in the middle for the FAW Youth Cup final between Cardiff City and Newport County in 2004/05.

Dean Started refereeing in the Swansea Senior league in 1998 and then progressed to the Welsh League and then the Welsh Premier League Full list in 2005.

He has also officiated in the Europa League Group stages and represented Wales at the Semi-pro Four Nations Tournament in England, refereeing Scotland matches against Ireland and England.

Dean has also been on the exchange programme refereeing games in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
