I started playing football for Prescelli colts at the age of 6; I stayed there until I was 11, then moved onto West End. Then I moved to Plough. I also play cricket for Mumbles where I have played for 11 years now. I am the opening bowler for the under 16s and last year won best bowler and clubman of the year. I stopped playing cricket after cracking my kneecap and did not what to risk a worse injury. Over the years my Mum has got to know Ceri Richards who of course is one of our FIFA List referees and is on the Select Group of Assistants.
Ceri has inspired me to become a referee. I also became a referee as I thought it was something different and there is a lot you can get out of it. I did the course in November 2008 and since then I have officiated in over 60 games, in the junior league, schools of excellence, Welsh league academies and my school games. My goals as a referee are to keep a safe environment on the field of play and hopefully follow in Ceri and also Mark Whitbys footsteps and make it onto the FIFA list. I have really enjoyed my first season as a referee. I would like to thank Dave Rees for helping me on the course and also everyone at the society including Mark Whitby for being a role model. I would also like to thank Ceri for mentoring me and giving me tips where possible. Also like to thank my family who with out them getting to games wouldn’t be easy.
In Season 2008/2009 I officiated in over 50 games, including games for Swansea Junior league, West Wales girls, School's games, and Swansea Academy games . I was assistant referee for the Swansea Junior league under 14 cup semi final, under 12 plate semi final. I was also assistant referee in the following cup finals: West Wales Tesco girls final. Under 12 Cup final. Under 13 cup final. I am now looking forward to next season.
