The West Wales Football Association are set to hold a new Referees Training Course at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport.
The West Wales Football Association will hold the first session of a new Referees Training Course on 4 June at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport in Neath.
The course will consist of eight two hour sessions on a weekly basis between 6.30pm and 8.30pm with Referees Instructor Teifion Cook.
Once the course is completed, it will be possible to progress through the system and even potentially progress to the FIFA International List of Referees and Assistant Referees. This gives match officials the opportunity to officiate in all parts of Europe and on occasions in other parts of the world.
An example of what can be achieved is Gareth Wyn Jones' (Bontnewydd) involvement at the UEFA Under 17 Championship Finals in Bulgaria, where he is the Assistant Referee on the Quarter Final match between Germany and Spain.
Referees Courses operate throughout the year across the whole of Wales and if you are interested in becoming a Referee, please contact FAW Referees Manager Ray Ellingham, REllingham@faw.co.uk.
