UEFA have appointed Welsh Premier officials to games in their club and National competitions.

Last Thursday the Hibernians (Malta) v Spartak Trnava (Slovakia) Europa League game was controlled by Swansea’s Mark Whitby assisted by Gareth Wyn Jones (Bontnewydd) and Martin Roberts (Llangefni) with Swansea’s Dean John as 4th Official.

Later in the month Bryn Markham-Jones from Swansea will travel to either My Pa 47 (Finland) or Fuglafjodur (Faroe Island) against the Belarus giants Dinamo Minsk. Assisting him will be Llanelli’s Daniel Beckett and Lewiss Edwards (Aberdare) with Rhydyfelin’s Brian James as 4th Official

Bryn has also been appointed to (at the moment) a confidential game in early September in UEFA’s U21 Championship. Going with him will be Trealaw’s Phil Thomas and Llanllynfi’s J B Roberts on the line with Gyffin’s Iwan Griffith as 4th Official.

Our Referee Observers are also in action with Ray Ellingham going to Cluj in Romania for their game with Jagodina from Serbia in the Europa League later this month, whilst Referees’ Manager Rodger Gifford took part in a little bit of history last Wednesday when he was appointed to the first ever UEFA Club match to be played in Gibraltar when Lincoln Red Imps hosted Torshavn from the Faroe Islands in the Champions’ League. Finally, Anglesey's Brian Lawlor has been appointed Referee Observer for FK Skenderbeau (Albania) v Bate Borisov (Belarus) in the Champions League qualifier on July 22nd.
